
Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber met Greek Ambassador Nikolaos Papageorgiou to discuss strengthening Cairo-Athens cooperation. The talks highlighted the historic and cultural ties between Egypt and Greece, noting the longstanding contributions of the Greek community in Cairo and Alexandria to trade, industry, education, journalism and the arts.
For his part, Saber emphasised that the best way to honour this shared heritage is to transform it into new avenues of collaboration, opening opportunities for future partnerships. He pointed to the importance of building on this legacy through continuous cultural exchange, including regular events showcasing Greek artistic heritage at Cairo’s “Street of Art.”
This meeting reflects Egypt’s commitment to cultural diplomacy, strengthening bilateral ties, and expanding urban cooperation.
