On the occasion of the European Day of Languages; an interactive language festival will be held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina on September 28th , 2015, from 12:00 until 6:00 pm. Participants will travel through different European countries exploring different languages and their cultures: English, German, French, Hungarian, Greek, Spanish and Italian. Language games, workshops, film screenings, music and much more are organized by the Goethe Institut, the British Council, the Institut franҫais d’Egypte, the Hellenic Foundation for Culture and the Balassi Institut (Cairo) in cooperation with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and Step Up youth initiative.
As a special activity for children, language workshops for German and French language had been offered last week at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s Children’s Library, in cooperation with the Goethe Institut and the Institut franҫais d’Egypte.
The European Day of Languages has been celebrated every year since 2001, on September 26th, as an initiative of the Council of Europe to celebrate plurilingualism and intercultural understanding. More information about this initiative is available here
